Cheryl Eveland
Informed through a lifetime of experience, curiosity and discovery, I am inspired by worldwide historic design, sign and symbol.
My fascination with design, nature, and historic work of women fosters my expression through hand crafted creations of jewelry. Stones that paint their own pictures have a special attraction. Breathtaking owyhee jaspers, the designs created in crazy lace agates, the beautiful little landscapes embodied in red creek jasper, and the exciting expressionist color of rainbow moonstones and labradorite are the basic building blocks of my pieces.
The artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries inspire me with their passion for eastern and middle eastern design and love of the natural world. The flowing patterns and dancing, organic movement of wind, water, wood grain and fire are brought to us through their designs in the English and American Arts and Crafts movements, and the decadence of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
I seek to create natural designs that reflect movement and elegance.
Adapted into hand weaving and hand shaping of metal, my designs seek to frame and enhance the natural beauty of the stone, reminiscent of forms in the natural world of flora and fauna, seas, rolling landscapes and the celestial canopy.
